Spilled Drink Pays $5 Million

November 3, 2010

Did you see the 10/12/10 Star Advertiser? A Maui McDonald’s must pay a woman $5.67 million after she slipped and fell in the restaurant back in November, 2007.  Slips and falls are the most common general liability insurance claim.  An expensive reminder of just how much a small liquid spill can cost if left unchecked. Yikes!

    Consider that women will never be able to work.
    Income = 0
    No health insurer will ever cover her.
    Health care = 0
    she is going to have a life time of pain.
    Joy of life = 0

    $5 million really is not much when you consider she never work again and she will have to cover all her own medical bills which are far and away more than Amy of us will have.

    That could be true that if the woman is that bad off, most of that money will go to medical care. My point is that if the spill had been cleaned and she hadn’t fallen, both parties would be better off. When it comes to insurance claims, prevention truly is the best medicine!
